Dan Rappe Caught!
I originally wrote the article 10 years ago.
Now I know what Dan has been up to all these years. During that time, Dan Rappe was living in Willowbrook, Illinois.
He had stayed with the woman I had written about, and began molesting her child, daily, starting when that child was very young.
That child is an adult now. …and a survivor. …and amazingly strong.
A few years back, Dan was profiled on the ‘Dan Abrams Report’ and I knew that he was still being sought by authorities.
The hunter was being hunted.
What changed in the past few years was the Adam Walsh Act. Before, whenever the authorities would get too close to Dan, he’d change where he was staying, or make a ‘contact’ pointing them in a new direction; and if that direction was outside of the local authorities jurisdiction, they couldn’t pursue.
The Adam Walsh Act brought his ducking the sex offender registry into federal territory, and allowed the US Marshals to get involved. That has made the difference.
Its too late to prevent Dan from hurting the victims he has no doubt terrorized in the ensuing years, BUT…if you have had Daniel J. Rappe in your life, or you’ve seen him around children, those children need to be evaluated. His victims deserve identification, counseling and intervention.
…and the hunt continues for all the others still out there, still hunting, some with a record, others yet to be identified.
But they should live in fear now. The US Marshals have teams purposed just to hunt them down and bring them to justice.
